Chart of the Week: US Dollar Decline

The US dollar has fallen nearly 10% this year, initially diverging from its historical relationship with interest rates as geopolitical concerns weighed heavily on the currency in the immediate aftermath of Liberation Day. Since then, the dollar has largely returned to trading in line with interest rate differentials and has come under pressure as US yields have declined. While we do not believe that the US dollar will lose its reserve currency status anytime soon, it may continue to depreciate if we see further signs of labor market weakness, which could drive US yields lower.
